Top Liv Doll Christmas 2011 Gifts

There are many Liv Doll products available right now. Is it hard for you to decide which ones you should get for your child on Christmas? Although Christmas is currently months away (at the time of this article), it is never too early to start buying! Here, I will talk about what I think are the best for Christmas 2011. I’ll try to lay out which Liv Dolls are the most recent, along with the accessories which I think are the most interesting

Liv Doll Making Waves Series

The Making Waves series is one of the new Liv Doll sets introduced in 2011. It features the Liv Girls in their beach gear. Along with the beach, the girls are also ready for a long day of fun in the sun at the lake.

This series is really interesting, because the makers of the Liv Dolls finally introduced a boy! His name is Jake. He is the lifeguard in the Making Waves set, and he is responsible for rescuing any of the Liv Girls that might need help. I have not heard of many more plans for Jake, but Spin Master has released an accessory for him. It is the Night Outfit for Jake, and it comes with a nice outfit and a flower and box of chocolates! I still don’t know if they are planning on making any new boys for the Liv Girls, but I hope they do.

The Making Waves series also comes with many fun accessories. One of the accessories is a cabana, which provides the dolls some shade from the sun. Another accessory is the kayak, which comes complete with a life jacket and paddle. Another sporty accessory in this series is a windsurfer! Similar to the kayak, it also comes with a paddle and a life jacket. With all of these accessories, this is definitely one of the most complete Liv Doll sets yet. To add onto this, the girls also look stunning in their swim suits. Some people have had concern over it the dolls’ outfits are too revealing, but I think that the outfits are modest enough so that they don’t cross the line. I originally though the swimsuits were too revealing until I saw one of the dolls in real life. Here is a video of the Making Waves series if you are still curious about the set.

Liv Doll Twist and Dance Series

The second item on my Christmas 2011 gifts is the Liv Doll Twist and Dance Set. This set is quite different than all of the other Liv Doll sets. The reason for this is that the dolls actually have different joints for movement! Yes that’s right, the dolls have special movements that allow them to dance with their hips. The doll can be held by the legs, and with movement of the legs, the hips shift. It actually looks like the girls are dancing at a club. Something that is not shown in the video about this set is that the dolls wigs can be flipped! The wigs that come with the dolls has a normal color on one side. When it is flipped, however, the color changes to a wild vibrant color. The flipped wigs match the crazy outfits of these dolls a bit better. As you can see from the image above, Katie is wearing some crazy yellow leggings and Daniela looks like a rockstar in her outfit.

I have, unfortunately, heard negative things about these dolls that you should know about. First of all, these dolls do NOT bend at the knees. This is kinda bad, since the dolls can’t sit down in normal positions. I believe the reason for doing this was so that the dolls could perform their dance moves better. Other than the knees not bending, I have not heard many other complaints about the set. Personally, I believe that the outfits are a good enough reason to purchase the dolls

One interesting note – there was actually another Liv Doll boy planned for this set, but it was never released! You can actually see pictures of this online, and it is sad that they teased us

Liv Doll Spa Set

To the best of my knowledge, the Liv Doll Spa Set is the latest available set in 2011. I have heard of rumors of other sets to be released before Christmas, but I have not seen them in stores. I will keep you updated about this though when I do hear about it.

Anyways, the Liv Doll Spa Set is the third killer set from 2011. It amazes me how each set of this year has shown so many interesting dolls and accessories. The spa set is one of the most interesting in this regard. It features the dolls in their spa outfits. Each doll comes with a dress for going to the spa, and a robe to wear while they are there. As you can see from the picture above, some of the dolls have streaks in their hair. Did you know that these streaks are activated by water? Yes, that’s right! If you brush water over their hair, the streaks show up. Also, their finger nail color is activated by water. If you are curious to see this, check out the video below to see how it works.

I’m sad because the commercial shows all five dolls, but I have only seen three of the dolls released on the internet. Along with the dolls, an entire spa accessory comes with the set. This accessory has many different components, such as a face mask for the dolls, nail polish, shampoo bottles, chairs for them to site, a bowl for their fingernails, towels, and head wraps.

Liv Doll Styling Heads

Some of the most interesting accessories that were released in 2011 include the Liv Doll styling heads. These heads are actual life-size heads with wigs which can be styled and worn by a young girl!

Currently, there is an Alexis styling head and a Sophie styling head. Along with the wigs that come with these dolls, there are also other life-sized accessories such as jewelry, earrings, and makeup. If your child decides to trim the hair of the wig, it’s totally fine. There are replacement wigs that can be bought and used again on the styling heads. Isn’t is neat? I think it is a very interesting way to popularize the dolls and make them more interactive with kids. I wonder if Spin Master will release actual life-sized clothes. I hope they do
